- You must choose either a plant
or an animal cell.
- You will turn this cell into a
place that someone can visit. Examples: Hotel, Ski
resort, Amusement park, museum, etc.
- Use the Internet
resources
page to research information
on cells, and to find graphics of cells, cell parts, and
processes.
- You must describe the structure
and function of at
least 8
cell organelles or
processes using creative and humorous analogies based on
what the part or process would be at your attraction.
Don't simply
state the cell part function.
Ex. While staying at our resort please remember to tip
our Lysosome ladies generously. They are the best cleanup
crew around. They use special digestive enzyme cleaning
agents to destroy any dirt or grime!
- You will produce a trifold
brochure to entice people to visit your cell attraction.
Use a brochure template in your word processing or draw
software to create this project.
- You
must include a real graphic of every part you use as well
as a graphic of what it is at your cell.
- The front cover of the brochure
should include the name of your cell and a graphic of
your choice. It should be attractive and eye catching.
Remember you want people to visit your cell!
- The back cover should have a
map (a labeled cell diagram) and fictional directions to
your cell.
- The set up of the other pages
in your brochure is up to you. Be certain to use all
pages.
- Please see the
two sample
brochures: for
proper
page set up and
overall
design. Simply close the
window when finished looking at the sample documents to
return to this page.
- Use correct spelling and
grammar throughout the project. An exception might be if
you alter the name of a cell part slightly for creative
purposes. Ex: Lysolady = Lysosome.
- Humor & creativity are
strongly encouraged!
- You will turn in a printed and
properly folded brochure to your teacher.
- You will also print out a
brochure to present your project to the
class.
- Click rubric
to see how you will be
graded.
